1961 Silvertone 1448 Amp-In-Case Vintage Guitar & Tube Amp, Danelectro USA-Made in La Quinta, California

$650

SILVERTONE 1448 AMP IN CASE GUITAR Offered for sale is this Silvertone 1448 Amp In Case Guitar from the early sixties (1962-66) in very good cosmetic condition and good working order (please see detailed photos below). These iconic guitars are legendary - made for Sears Roebuck by Danelectro - they feature the famed lipstick pick up with its unique tone. The 3 watt amp in the case has a has a 6" speaker and is in working order, but unsurprisingly it's not the greatest-sounding valve amp you'll find - it still has the original two prong US mains cable and should be checked over by a qualified amp technician before use. Given that these were budget starter guitars, it's surprising how well they play and sound - thankfully you're not limited to just using the amp in case: plug into a decent amp and you'll soon understand why they're very sought-after. Much favoured by slide players, Silvertone amp-in-case guitars have also been played by Jimmy Page, Jack White, Mick Jagger and Beck. This amp is an original vintage USA 110v model and will require a step-down transformer to operate at 240v (easily available online). This was purchased from the grandson of the original guitar designer for Silvertone. It has only been owned by that family and me. It is in great condition and plays well. It has all original Silvertone parts.I purchased it for significantly more than it is listed for here. There is a small damage to fabric on side of body. There is light scratching on the back of the headstock.
